Adelaide Hills precision meets Penfolds pedigree.
Penfolds Bin A Chardonnay 2024 is a benchmark expression of modern Australian Chardonnay—unmistakably Adelaide Hills in origin, yet unmistakably Penfolds in character. Crafted from hand-picked fruit and whole-bunch pressed, this is a wine that puts texture and purity at the centre of the conversation. It's a confident and expressive style, shaped by wild fermentation, 100% malolactic conversion, and meticulous lees work.
Originally conceived as a reserve-tier trial, Bin A has long outgrown its experimental roots. It now sits as one of Penfolds' most distinctive white wines, shaped by the unique cool-climate conditions of the Adelaide Hills and the winery’s relentless pursuit of balance and drive.
Expect layers to unfold over time—ripe stone fruit and citrus wrapped in saline tension, framed by subtle oak. This is Chardonnay built for now, but with the structure to cellar confidently over 5–8 years. Pair with grilled marron, roast chicken, or anything that loves a bit of butter.

Pale colour. Classic grapefruit, stone fruit grilled‑nut and flinty aromatics with marzipan and vanilla notes. Beautifully balanced and multi‑layered, with superb apricot, yellow peach and grapefruit flavours, underlying tonic water, grilled nut and marzipan complexity. Superb mid‑palate viscosity, fresh lacy textures and a mineral‑long finish. One of the very best in the series. Exceptional. Drink now – 2036.
A charismatic celebration of Adelaide Hills chardonnay—flint, toasted oats, grapefruit pith, melon rind, preserved lime and fresh popcorn. The palate is precise and energetic, flowing with crystalline acidity and assured structure.
The charismatic celebration of Adelaide Hills chardonnay in fine form. Flint and toasted oats, grapefruit pith and melon rind. Preserved lime and fresh popcorn. Precise and energetic palate, a lovely, assured flow, etched with fine, crystalline acidity.
Penfolds has been a pioneer in the world of winemaking since its establishment in 1844 by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold. The company's success has been driven by a lineage of visionary winemakers who have pushed the development of the company to extraordinary, bold new heights. Mary Penfold's reign at the helm of Penfolds saw years of determination and endeavour, experimenting with new methods in wine production. In 1948, Max Schubert became the company's first Chief Winemaker and he propelled Penfolds onto the global stage with his experimentation of long-lasting wines - the creation of Penfolds Grange in the 1950s. Soon, the medals began flowing, and Grange quickly became one of the most revered wines around the world. In 2012, Penfolds released its most innovative project to date - 12 handcrafted ampoules of the rare 2004 Kalimna Block Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Penfolds continues to hold dear the philosophies and legends that have driven the company's success since its establishment in 1844.
At Penfolds, winemaking is not just about producing wine; it is about creating something extraordinary that endures. The philosophy behind Penfolds is grounded in a balance between tradition and innovation. Every bottle is a reflection of this philosophy, blending the art of winemaking with scientific precision and modern technology. Penfolds’ commitment to quality has seen generations of winemakers continually refine their craft, while their constant curiosity drives them to experiment and explore new possibilities. Penfolds wines are a celebration of the unique Australian terroir, harnessing the country’s diverse regions to produce wines of exceptional character and complexity.
Penfolds’ philosophy extends beyond just the winemaking process—it’s about creating wines that can be enjoyed today or cellared for future generations. With a focus on balance, structure, and depth, every bottle is designed to stand the test of time. Whether it’s a rich, full-bodied red or a crisp, elegant white, Penfolds wines are crafted to bring people together, to inspire conversations, and to be savoured and shared. Their ability to evolve and adapt, while maintaining a consistent commitment to quality, has solidified Penfolds as one of the world’s most respected and celebrated winemakers.
Struck match, pink grapefruit and white nectarine lead, with a whiff of nougat and sea spray.
Creamy mid-palate energy from lees stirring and full malolactic, balanced by crisp acid and a tight mineral line.
Lingering grapefruit pith and cashew with a mouth-watering, chalky drive.
