Product Description:
Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 1999 is one of Australia’s most celebrated single-vineyard Shiraz wines, produced from the historic Hill of Grace vineyard in Eden Valley. Sourced from ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines planted around the 1860s near the Gnadenberg Lutheran Church, the wine represents the pinnacle of the Henschke family’s winemaking heritage and one of the country’s most collectible fine wines. The 1999 vintage followed a mild growing season that delivered excellent flavour development and balance, allowing the ancient vines to produce fruit of remarkable concentration and finesse. Matured in predominantly French oak for extended élevage, the wine reflects the distinctive character of the vineyard while preserving the purity and complexity that define Hill of Grace.
Aromatically intricate and deeply layered, the 1999 vintage reveals dark berry fruit, spice, earth and savoury nuances that continue to evolve beautifully with age. The palate combines richness with extraordinary elegance, supported by fine tannins and vibrant natural acidity that provide exceptional structure and longevity. While powerful in concentration, the wine maintains remarkable detail and composure throughout, hallmarks of the Hill of Grace style. With more than two decades of bottle age, the wine now displays tertiary complexity while retaining impressive fruit vitality and freshness. Revered by collectors and critics alike, Hill of Grace remains one of the defining benchmark wines of Australian Shiraz. The 1999 vintage continues to demonstrate the ageing pedigree and vineyard character that have secured its legendary status among the world’s great wines. It is an exceptional companion to premium beef, game meats, truffle dishes and mature hard cheeses.

Reviews & Accolades
“The prodigious 1999 Shiraz Hill of Grace is a magnificent Eden Valley Shiraz, fashioned from vineyard blocks ranging between 52-144 years of age. Its inky/ruby/plum/purple color is followed by a fragrant perfume of black fruits intermixed with underbrush, dried herbs, vanilla, and spring flowers. Full-bodied, magnificently concentrated, pure, and delineated, this gorgeous, still young, compelling Shiraz is another example of a vintage that more and more appears to be underrated. It should hit its prime in 2-4 years, and last 15-20.” — Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 98 Points
“Excellent vintage. One of the darker coloured vintages, this has deep tarry notes to start with, dark nutty savoury elements, plenty of spice and sweet oak in the mix too, a very young and convincing wine. The palate delivers plenty of fruit flavour and depth, lovely resolved tannins that take a very muscular shape, showing elegance with power, a hallmark of Hill of Grace, fragrant finish, lip-smacking and energetic. Still very young.” — James Suckling, 97 Points
