Amisfield is a Central Otago wine estate specialising in Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines, with fruit grown across a 93-hectare organic single vineyard beneath the Pisa Range near Cromwell on New Zealand's South Island.
Founded by John Darby in 1988, when Central Otago's modern wine industry was still in its early years, Amisfield has developed around a close relationship between vineyard, climate and place. The estate is certified organic by BioGro New Zealand, with an approach to viticulture centred on working with the natural conditions of its high-country environment.
Today, the range extends from the estate's signature Pinot Noir and Breakneck Reserve Pinot Noir to Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir Rosé and traditional-method sparkling wine.
A Single Organic Estate Beneath the Pisa Range
Amisfield's wines begin at its estate vineyard beneath the Pisa Range in Central Otago, an area shaped by an arid climate, dramatic seasonal variation and the surrounding mountain landscape.
The range helps shelter the vineyard while also contributing to the challenging conditions that define the site. Amisfield's approach is deliberately hands-off, with the vineyard team working organically and allowing differences in season and site to remain visible in the finished wines.
Amisfield Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir sits at the heart of Amisfield.
The estate Pinot Noir draws from fruit grown across the organic vineyard and provides the clearest introduction to Amisfield's interpretation of Central Otago. Our collection spans several vintages, with selected releases also available in 375ml half bottles and 1.5L magnums.
For a more site-specific expression, Amisfield Breakneck Reserve Pinot Noir comes from the steep Breakneck block within the estate. Produced in smaller quantities, it offers greater concentration and structure and is particularly suited to Pinot Noir drinkers looking beyond the estate release.
Amisfield White, Rosé & Sparkling Wines
Beyond Pinot Noir, Amisfield produces a small range of wines that explore other varieties and styles from its Central Otago estate.
Pinot Gris combines fruit and texture with cool-climate freshness, while Sauvignon Blanc offers Amisfield's Central Otago interpretation of one of New Zealand's best-known varieties.
The range also includes a dry Pinot Noir Rosé and Brut Méthode Traditionnelle, a bottle-fermented sparkling wine that brings another expression of the estate's cool-climate character.
