La Grande Dame 2015 designed by Paola Paronetto - For this new vintage of La Grande Dame, master of colour Paola Paronetto meets the expression of Veuve Clicquot's excellence with an exclusive collaboration. Explore the Italian artist's take on La Grande Dame, a chromatic symphony that echoes the harmony of our 2015 vintage. As Madame Clicquot used to say 200 years ago, "Our black grapes give the finest white wines" an affirmation that still rings true. Beloved for it;s versatility, the Pinot Noir grape expresses itself differently according to it's growing conditions and the year in which it is harvested. As a fine blend of Veuve Clicquot's historical Grands Crus, La Grande Dame is the pinnacle of the Maison's oenological prowess, with an immense ageing potential. Customer is unable to select box colour as this is selected at random.

    Veuve Clicquot

Born in 1777 to a textile manufacturer in Reims, Champagne, Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin's life took a pivotal turn when widowed at just 27. Defying the norms of her time, she seized control of her destiny, stepping into leadership of her father-in-law's company, established in 1772. With unwavering passion and determination, she navigated an era that largely excluded women from business. Her relentless pursuit of innovation marked a new chapter for Champagne: she pioneered the first vintage champagne, introduced the riddling table, and crafted the first blended rosé champagne. These innovations reshaped the industry, setting the standard for modern champagne production. Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin transformed her name into a symbol of excellence, renowned globally. Her remarkable achievements earned her the revered title of "la grande dame of Champagne."

Champagne is a wine of legend. The entire history of the Veuve Clicquot House is marked by mythical wines, all of which respect the demand for quality that was the force that drove Madame Clicquot. True to this heritage, the House is proud of its motto: "Only one quality, the finest." A short lineage of just 11 Cellar Masters has led this quest for quality, thereby ensuring the continuity of the Veuve Clicquot style: strength and complexity. Veuve Clicquot priors itself on excellence and quality. Only the juice from the cuvée (the first and most noble pressing) is used.

    Tasting notes

    NOSE
    White flowers, Fruity Nuances

On the nose, there are initial notes of white Flowers, such as jasmine, honeysuckle followed by fruitier nuances of apple, pear and peach. A few notes of fresh sliced almond and frangipane complete the bouquet.

    PALATE
    Complex, Silky, Elegant

In the mouth, there are more complex aromas: dried apricot, hazelnuts, honey and sugar candy. Silky textures give the wine its personality, elegance and character, while the ageing has imparted depth and power to the wine.

    FINISH
    Long and Lingering, Toasty

Long and lingering, with the flavours persisting on the palate. A touch of minerality and a hint of toasty notes round out the finish.
