The House of Veuve Clicquot and Madame Clicquot

Founded in Reims in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has become one of the most recognised names in Champagne. Much of its legacy is attributed to Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, known today as Madame Clicquot, who assumed control of the House in 1805 and transformed it into one of Champagne's great success stories.

Her influence extended far beyond the business itself. Madame Clicquot is credited with pioneering the riddling table, a breakthrough that improved the clarity of Champagne, and creating one of the earliest commercially successful rosé Champagnes. Her pursuit of quality and innovation continues to define the House today.

Pinot Noir at the Heart of the Veuve Clicquot Style

Pinot Noir is the signature grape variety of Veuve Clicquot and forms the backbone of the House style. Sourced from a network of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards across Champagne, it brings structure, depth and character to the wines.

Balanced with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir gives Veuve Clicquot its distinctive combination of richness and freshness. Notes of orchard fruit, brioche, citrus and spice are common across the range, supported by a generous proportion of reserve wines that contribute consistency and complexity.

Yellow Label and the Signature Collection

Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut NV is the House's most recognised Champagne and serves as the benchmark for its style. Combining structure, freshness and consistency, it has become one of the world's most widely enjoyed Champagnes.

Alongside Yellow Label, the collection includes Veuve Clicquot Rosé, Vintage Champagne and a variety of limited-edition presentations. Rosé expressions build upon the House style through the addition of red wine, bringing greater depth of fruit while retaining the freshness and balance for which Veuve Clicquot is known.

The Kent Street Cellars collection includes Yellow Label and Rosé across a variety of formats, from 375ml half bottles through to magnums and large-format bottles.

La Grande Dame: The Prestige Cuvée

Created in 1972 to celebrate the bicentenary of the House, La Grande Dame is Veuve Clicquot's prestige cuvée and a tribute to Madame Clicquot herself.

Produced only in exceptional vintages, La Grande Dame places Pinot Noir at the centre of the blend and showcases some of the House's finest vineyard sites. Extended ageing contributes additional depth, texture and complexity, making these wines among the most collectible and cellar-worthy Champagnes in the Veuve Clicquot portfolio.
