A flagship blend with a legacy written in red — bold, structured and built to endure.
Yalumba’s 2022 The Signature is a tribute wine in more ways than one. Each vintage honours a key figure in Yalumba’s story, while the wine itself continues a revered tradition of blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz with clarity, power and grace. Fruit is sourced from some of the Barossa Valley’s finest vineyard sites—including blocks dating back to 1945—with the Cabernet providing structure and aromatic lift, and the Shiraz contributing plush, spiced depth.
Matured for 18 months in a mix of new and seasoned Hungarian and French oak from Yalumba’s own cooperage, the 2022 vintage is rich and finely honed. Expect dark berries, red licorice and mint, layered with bay leaf, tobacco, spice and earth. It’s a wine with backbone and finesse, held by beautifully integrated tannins and acidity.
Crafted for longevity, this release is destined to develop over decades. Decant it now alongside roast lamb or mushroom ragu, or cellar until 2054 and let it tell its full story.

A serious wine that is built to last for years in the bottle.
Elegant and graceful… a super release.
Established in 1849, Yalumba is undoubtedly Australia’s most historic family owned wine company. It remains fiercely independent and progressive through the generational ownership by the Hill-Smith family. Today it is lead by Robert Hill-Smith, fifth generation & chairman. Yalumba has a long commitment to quality and possess incredible foresight in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. Interestingly they operate the southern hemisphere’s only fully operational Cooperage, crafting bespoke oak barrels that elevate the wines aged within them. Their nursery is a global leader in wine innovation, growing, evaluating and supplying quality grape vines to the Australian wine industry.
Yalumba shares the best of what Barossa and South Australia has to offer. While the Barossa is home base, they draw on the varied climates and soil types across South Australia to make wines grown in some of the country’s finest wine regions. Barossa is arguably the single most famous wine region in Australia, comprised of Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, making it one of the only areas in Australia to have neighbouring warm and cool climate growing conditions. Yalumba is privileged to have access to some of the oldest vineyards in the world in Barossa Valley, including 1889 bush vine Grenache and 1908 Shiraz. The Coonawarra estate is on prized terra rossa soil known as The Menzies Vineyard growing predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon vines.
The Caley is the pinnacle of a long winemaking journey of excellence, that rightfully honours Yalumba’s most adventurous son, Fred Caley Smith. A blend of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Barossa Shiraz, The Caley is a classic marriage of two noble varieties and two great Australian wine regions.
Yalumba’s vineyard holdings stretch across some of South Australia’s most prized winegrowing regions, each site carefully chosen for its unique expression of climate, soil and aspect. In the Barossa Valley, the Signature Vineyard at Light Pass—planted in 2015 with a diverse mix of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon clones from Yalumba’s own nursery—represents the future of the estate. Close by, the Tri-Centenary Vineyard, established in 1889, stands as one of the oldest surviving bush-vine Grenache plantings in the world, while the neighbouring Steeple Vineyard (planted c.1919), now certified organic and farmed biodynamically, produces intensely flavoured Shiraz from dry-grown vines rooted deep in sandy loam.
In the cooler Eden Valley, Yalumba draws from sites like Mexican Vale and High Eden—situated at 535 metres above sea level—where lean, gravelly soils and elevated conditions yield taut, mineral-laced Chardonnay and Riesling. Further south, The Menzies Estate in Coonawarra delivers classic Cabernet Sauvignon from ancient terra rossa soils. Eight separate blocks, each defined by unique combinations of clone, rootstock and vine age, contribute to the depth and structure of their flagship red.
Sustainability underpins Yalumba’s viticulture. Organic and vegan-friendly practices have been in place since 2005, native vegetation is preserved across the vineyards, and wild ferments are standard across much of the range. This thoughtful stewardship allows each vineyard site to speak clearly through the wines—a genuine expression of region and season.
Blackcurrants, cedar, bay leaf and tobacco leaf lifted by red licorice and floral spice.
Blood plums, blackberry and dark cherry with undertones of pencil shavings, olive tapenade and earth.
Persistent tannins carry notes of bitter chocolate, walnut and roasting meats into a savoury, lingering close.
