The Vietti Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria 2020 is a true expression of the Barbaresco region, offering a striking balance of freshness and structure. Sourced from the prestigious Roncaglie Cru, this Nebbiolo is a wine of intensity and complexity. The 2020 vintage stands apart for its classic, austere character, displaying the restrained elegance typical of great Barbaresco wines. The wine showcases vibrant red fruit flavours of cherry and redcurrant, complemented by nuances of orange peel, mint, and white pepper, all underpinned by a distinct mineral edge. The palate is marked by gentle intensity and purity, with a firm tannic structure balanced by refreshing acidity. While immediately appealing, this wine will benefit from additional aging, allowing its full potential to unfold. The 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria is a wine that speaks to both connoisseurs and collectors, offering a timeless glimpse into the soul of Barbaresco.

    Trusted by the professionals

The 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria stands out for its remarkable depth of fruit, coupled with well-defined minerality. The acidity is refreshing, and the finish is long and polished, making it a fantastic option for aging

    — Wine Enthusiast - 95 Points

The 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria sizzles with tension. Bright, red-toned fruit, orange peel, mint, white pepper, and crushed rocks are all beautifully delineated. In many vintages, the Roncaglie is quite showy, but that is hardly the case in 2020, a vintage in which the wine is classically austere and in need of time. Super-classic.

    — Antoni Galloni, Vinous - 94+ Points

The Vietti 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria has bright rose, cherry, redcurrant, and angel food cake with strawberries. There are mineral notes as well, and the fruit unfolds over the palate with gentle intensity. There is some oak spice, but it is very well integrated; and the wine shows good balance, especially where the tannins versus acidity is concerned.

    — Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate - 94 Points

A delicate, yet profound expression of Barbaresco with focused red fruit and subtle spice. Elegant tannins and fresh acidity carry this wine to a long, refined finish. This is a wine that will evolve beautifully over the next decade.

    — James Suckling - 94 Points

Vibrant and fresh, with excellent precision and balance. The 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria is a beautiful example of the quality achievable in this classic Piedmont region, with an expressive mix of fruit and earthy complexity.

    — Wine Spectator - 93 Points

    Vietti

We owe thanks to Carlo Vietti who started the Vietti winery at the end of the 1800s. Situated, to this day, right in the heart of the Langhe, on the highest point of the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto. Mario Vietti, Carlo's son, returned in 1917 after many years from living in the United States, and took the reins of the company, armed with the knowledge of modern techniques he elevated the winery to produce higher-quality wines. By the end of the 1950s, daughter Luciana Vietti had inherited the winery, together with her husband Alfredo Currado an oenologist and fellow art lover, they merged their knowledge of wine with art and culture. Since 1974 certain Vietti wines have been dressed with specially-designed original works (lithographs, xylographies, etchings, silkscreens, linocuts) inspired by the wine of that particular vintage.

From the beginning Vietti has been about commitment and vision, culture and passion. These are the keywords that have contributed to the growth of the Vietti winery and brand, universally recognised today among the best Italian wine labels. The path of quality is traced, thanks to the respect for tradition and careful experimentation, where man and earth have always been able to dialogue. The intellectual, professional, and prospective legacy of Alfredo Currado and Luciana was taken up first, during the 80s, by their son-in-law Mario Cordero and then, starting from the 90s, by their son Luca Currado Vietti, subsequently accompanied by his wife Elena.

In 2016, the Krause Family purchased Vietti. Luca Currado Vietti and wife Elena, continued to process and market the wines producing their final vintage in 2021. Vietti has extended the winemaking properties with new, renowned crus in the denomination of Barolo and Barbaresco. In the Colli Tortonesi area, thanks to the purchase of vineyards, the production of Timorasso had its beginning. As in the past, Vietti maintains those founding values - commitment and vision, culture and passion. The same values that animated Carlo Vietti at the beginning, and all his successors.
