      Always loved, but never admitted - Merlot is one variety Unico Zelo will always continue to craft. From a clay-loam site, peppered with quartz in Lobethal, established in the early 1990s, this is a specialist Merlot vineyard - and a wine with love to surprise people with! Firm texture and herbaceous vibes! Unico Zelo Taboo Merlot has soothing aromas of cassis, pomegranate pith and garden herbs. Stacks of tension and elongated tannins. There’s a big splash of alcohol here, but waves of staggered acid keep it in check, leaving just a slight stain of tart red fruit (think cranberry and redcurrant) on the palate.
