Thompson Bros Clynelish 2013 12 Year Old is a limited independent bottling of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky selected specifically for the Australian market. Distilled at the highly regarded Clynelish Distillery in 2013, the whisky was matured for 12 years before being selected and bottled by Phil and Simon Thompson of Thompson Bros. This particular release comes from a single re-charred hogshead, cask #314377, and yielded just 102 bottles, making it an exceptionally small-production expression. The whisky was selected through a partnership between Thompson Bros and Australian specialist Casa de Vinos. Bottled at a robust 52.3% ABV, it preserves considerable intensity while showcasing the waxy, oily character for which Clynelish is particularly renowned.

The aromatic profile combines orange, waxy honey and quince paste with green apple skin, mineral notes and hints of peach stone. On the palate, fresh citrus and orchard fruit mingle with barley, wet stone, salinity and the darker influence of re-charred oak. Liquorice and fennel introduce subtle savoury complexity, while honey and mandarin pith provide contrasting sweetness and citrus bitterness. The whisky retains a characteristically waxy texture throughout, reinforcing the distinctive house style associated with Clynelish. Its finish is long and expressive, developing notes of marmalade, candle wax and pear drop. With its single-cask provenance, tiny Australian allocation and combination of wax, fruit and mineral character, this 12-year-old represents a distinctive independent interpretation of Clynelish.
