The Macallan's reputation for the extraordinary is characterised by the exceptional oak casks for which The Macallan is renowned. Source, crafted, toasted and seasoned under the watchful eye of the Macallan Master of Wood, the hand-picked casks are delivered to the demanding specifications of The Macallan Master Distiller. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same cask for a full eighteen years. It is the oak that makes the greatest contribution to the quality, natural colours and distinctive aromas and flavours at the heart of this single malt whisky.

When matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, a rich, fruity and full bodied ' new make' spirit is transformed into an iconic single malt. The sherry seasoned oak cask delivers a single malt characterised by the mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours.
