Tequila Ocho Reposado is crafted by the partnership of renowned master distiller Carlos Camarena and the late tequila ambassador Tomas Estes, two figures widely respected for their dedication to authentic tequila production. The spirit is produced at the historic La Alteña Distillery (NOM 1474) in Arandas, located in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Carlos Camarena represents a long lineage of agave growers and distillers, bringing generations of expertise and a deep understanding of agave cultivation to the project. His family has been involved in tequila production for decades, and his meticulous attention to traditional techniques ensures that each release maintains the integrity of classic tequila craftsmanship. Tomas Estes, meanwhile, was instrumental in elevating tequila’s global reputation, advocating for quality tequila long before the category gained widespread international recognition. Together, they created Tequila Ocho in 2008 with the goal of showcasing tequila as a spirit of terroir, comparable to fine wine. The production process emphasizes slow roasting of mature blue Weber agave, natural fermentation, and careful distillation to preserve the character of the agave. For the Reposado expression, the tequila is rested in oak barrels, allowing gentle maturation while retaining the purity of the spirit. The result reflects the shared vision of two pioneers determined to highlight authenticity, origin, and craftsmanship in every bottle.
