Product Description:
Te Mata’s Elston Chardonnay 2023 is a benchmark expression from one of New Zealand’s most storied estates. Sourced from the warm, free-draining slopes of the Havelock Hills in Hawke’s Bay, Elston blends classic structure with the energy and clarity of its southern setting. The 2023 release is beautifully pitched—layered, textural, and impeccably balanced.
Whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented in French oak (36% new), with a portion going through malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 11 months on lees for extra depth. On the nose, expect white peach, grapefruit and flint, underlined by roasted nuts and a touch of char. The palate is creamy yet focused—lemon curd, nectarine and toasted hazelnut wrapped in saline acidity and fine oak. It’s poised, powerful and built to evolve.
Drink now with roast poultry or grilled seafood, or cellar up to eight years.
