Stoneleigh Wild Valley Pinot Noir
Stoneleigh is a premium New Zealand wine that expresses the vibrancy & fresh flavours of the Marlborough region through their minimal intervention winemaking philosophy & collaboration with nature. Situated in the heart of the Wairau Valley in New Zealand’s famous Marlborough wine region, Stoneleigh Vineyard is part of a remarkable winegrowing area. The cool climate, high sunshine hours and distinctive stone studded Rapaura soils in Marlborough provide the ideal conditions for their signature style – uniquely fresh, crisp & aromatically rich wine ripened by sunstones, sustainably sourced and vegan certified. Ultimately, Stoneleigh believe that beautiful things can happen when we partner with nature and actively work with it hence why they use sunstones from an ancient riverbed to naturally ripen their vines, bringing richer, more vibrant flavours to their grapes. Sustainability is also an important part of their journey as they have dedicated over 23 hectares to biodiversity projects and a further 8 hectares to regenerative land. Additionally, they use 100% sustainably sourced grapes and absolutely no animal products from grape to bottle.
The wine opens with bright primary fruit on the nose such as cherries and rhubarb with a hint of warm spice – vanilla bean and cinnamon. The palate is full of fruit notes too, more cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavours. This makes for a rich vibrant wine, supported on ripe, supple tannins and fresh, moderate acidity with a touch of charry oak on the finish.
