      Peppercorn fire meets tropical fruit—Cambodian rum with a spicy twist. Samai Kampot Pepper Premium Cambodian Rum is a category-first release that marries aged rum with the bold, fragrant spice of red Kampot peppercorns. Crafted in Phnom Penh by Samai Distillery, this spirit is macerated with whole peppercorns after ageing for up to three years, then rested in stainless steel to allow its spice and sweetness to harmonise. The result? A rum that’s fresh, vibrant, and genuinely unlike anything else in the bottle.

      Distilled from local sugarcane molasses using a hybrid pot and column system, this rum shows off Cambodian terroir in full voice. The red Kampot pepper—internationally prized for its floral aroma and balanced heat—adds aromatic lift and a subtle tingle that lingers long after the last sip. Expect sweet notes of guava and eucalyptus with a tingling, zesty finish. An excellent sipper for the adventurous, and a creative weapon behind the bar for riffs on Daiquiris, Dark & Stormies, or Negronis.

      Samai was born from a simple idea: that Cambodia’s abundant natural resources could yield a spirit unlike any other. In a country known for its rich, high-quality sugarcane, the potential for world-class rum had remained untapped. In 2014, a small team set out to change that, drawing on Latin rum-making traditions while rooting their craft firmly in Cambodian soil.

      Central to the story is Ms Moang Darachampich, the first rum master distiller in the kingdom, who joined the founders on their journey to create Cambodia’s first premium rum distillery. Together, they brought vision, skill and a spirit of experimentation to build a new benchmark for Asian rum, crafted entirely from scratch.
