Pommery Grand Cru Brut Millésime 1995 3L

In 1858, Madame Pommery took over as head of Pommery & Greno after the death of her husband. She based the expansion of her House on the creation of wines unlike any others, with one constant demand: quality pushed to the extreme. In matters of taste she was ahead of her time. It was she who created Pommery Nature in 1874, the first brut champagne to meet with commercial success, thereby breaking with the tradition of very sweet wine. A woman in a man’s world, she imprinted her personality on her champagnes. 

The Grands Crus selected by Pommery are exceptionally located in vineyards of the Champagne region. Their south, south east exposure provides maximum sunlight while planting in the middle of hill slopes and on the rich chalky terrain allows excellent irrigation at the bottom of the wines.

Since 1995 was a difficult year for the Champagne area, this Pommery Grand Cru Brut Millésime Jeroboam is a special vintage made with extreme care and displaying tremendous finesse. It is a wine fit for special events and goes well with food. At first brisk and crisp, it develops a fantastic feeling of nuance and body before ending in a creamy, meaty texture.

Full, with mushrooms, toast and an earthy element on the nose, this example opens to a palate of toast, apple and baked-pear flavors. Displays a fairly rich mouthfeel, with an appealing texture and bead. Finishes long, dry and classy, with tart plum notes and a mineral complement. - Wine Enthusiast
