Product Description:
Precision meets intensity—Chardonnay from vines on the brink.
Larderdark 2023 is the most powerful and mineral Chardonnay yet from Place of Changing Winds. Named after the ancient forest that borders the vineyard, this is a wine forged from the site’s most challenging conditions—tiny yields (just 144g/vine), meticulous organic farming, and an unwavering commitment to purity. With only 974 bottles made, it's a wine of rarity, structure and drive.
The profile is striking: ruby grapefruit, quince and creamy lees upfront, giving way to more exotic tones and a briny edge as it opens. The mouthfeel is electric—tightly coiled and layered, the low yields translating into intense fruit concentration without losing the wine’s linear core. Three-quarters was raised in glass fermenters to retain clarity and brightness; the remainder in a single new Stockinger barrique for structure and finesse.
Drink slowly to appreciate the evolution in glass, or cellar 8–10 years. Best with grilled lobster, white asparagus or comté.
