Product Description:
Freshness, finesse and delicate Pinot Noir expression define the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Monthélie Rouge 2024. This village-level red Burgundy is produced from Pinot Noir grown within the Monthélie appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey established his domaine in 2005 after leaving his family’s Domaine Marc Colin, and today works alongside his wife, Caroline Morey, from their base in Chassagne-Montrachet. Although the estate is particularly celebrated for its Chardonnay, it also produces small quantities of refined red Burgundy. The domaine follows sustainable viticulture informed by organic principles, with careful vineyard work intended to preserve the character of each site. Its red wines generally incorporate a proportion of whole bunches, usually around 30%, followed by gentle extraction and restrained handling to maximise freshness and finesse.
Monthélie lies between Volnay, Meursault and Auxey-Duresses and is particularly recognised for elegant, finely structured Pinot Noir. The official Bourgogne wine authority describes the appellation’s reds through aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, violet and peony, supported by velvety texture and fine tannins. The cooler and challenging 2024 Burgundy growing season produced red wines commonly characterised by freshness, energetic acidity and relatively moderate alcohol levels. These qualities align naturally with Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s restrained and precision-focused approach to red-wine production. Rather than pursuing excessive extraction or oak influence, the domaine uses gentle vinification to maintain perfume, clarity and balance. The resulting style is expected to emphasise pure fruit, floral detail and measured structure rather than weight or opulence. This is a versatile red Burgundy suited to roast poultry, duck, pork, mushroom dishes, charcuterie and softly matured cheeses.
