Deeper fruit, floral perfume and finely measured structure define the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Monthélie 1er Cru Clos des Champs Fulliot Rouge 2024. Produced entirely from Pinot Noir, this limited red Burgundy comes from the Premier Cru vineyard of Clos des Champs Fulliot in the Côte de Beaune. The 2024 release is the first vintage of this particular cuvée produced under the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey label. Its vineyard is situated beside Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Chênes, placing it close to one of the neighbouring appellation’s most recognised Pinot Noir sites. The parcel contains vines established during four different planting periods, with ages ranging from approximately 30 to 70 years. This diversity of vine age contributes a combination of youthful fruit energy and the greater concentration associated with mature vines. The wine was vinified with approximately 40% whole bunches, adding aromatic lift and structural detail while preserving its vivid fruit character.

The wine displays a deeper colour than the other 2024 reds produced within the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and Caroline Morey range. Raspberry forms the core of the aromatic profile, accompanied by rose-petal perfume, darker fruit nuances and a subtle nutty character. The palate offers good body and a convincing sense of fruit ripeness without sacrificing the finesse expected of Monthélie. Its flavour and structure build progressively toward the back of the palate, giving the wine greater presence and persistence. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s gentle approach to red-wine extraction helps maintain freshness and refinement rather than excessive weight. Although attractive for its floral and fruit-driven qualities, the wine possesses enough structure to benefit from several years of bottle maturation. Jasper Morris MW recommends drinking it from 2028 to 2032.

      Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was born in 2001 from the association of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc). Today they operate 13 hectares in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Their production consists of 92% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% of Aligoté grape variety. Working about 2 hectares from the family heritage, the other plots have come from different acquisitions over the last fifteen years, as well as a few plots in Fermages.

Established as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in 2005 left his family Domaine, Marc Colin, where he gained a solid reputation for his outstanding white wines. Pierre-Yves took control of a share of the family vineyards (Domaine Marc Colin) from 2006 vintage. His first vintages have been made from vineyards and growers that he works closely with buying the wine as must and aging the wines in barrels which he has supplied. If the resulting wines meet his standards the barrels of wine purchased are then matured in his own cold cellar below his house in Chassagne Montrachet.

“This is not just one of the top domaines in the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is now well recognised as one of the greatest winemakers and domaines in the world. Consistently producing benchmark wines in each vintage.”
