Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a beautifully layered and mineral-driven Chardonnay that captures the precision and quiet power characteristic of the domaine’s village-level wines. Sourced from several old-vine parcels on the Puligny side of Chassagne-Montrachet, including Journoblot, Houillères, Beuttes and Pierres, the wine benefits from limestone-rich soils that contribute freshness, tension and remarkable site clarity. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is widely regarded as one of Burgundy’s most influential modern white wine producers, known for meticulous vineyard work, restrained oak handling and wines of exceptional transparency and energy. The 2023 vintage delivered ripe fruit balanced by vivid acidity, resulting in wines that combine concentration with precision and freshness.

In the glass, the wine reveals a refined and energetic profile built around citrus, orchard fruit and saline minerality. The palate is both textural and focused, with carefully integrated reduction and subtle oak influence supporting the wine’s structure without masking terroir expression. Notes of clementine, apricot and citrus peel unfold alongside hints of crushed stone, toasted almond and delicate spice. There is impressive weight through the mid-palate, balanced by bright acidity and a mineral thread that carries through the finish. The wine remains poised and harmonious throughout, combining richness with elegance and persistence. Sophisticated yet approachable, this Chassagne-Montrachet pairs beautifully with lobster, roast poultry, scallops or refined seafood dishes in cream-based sauces.

      Trusted by the professionals

All grown on the Puligny side, Journoblot, Houillères, Beuttes and Pierres. Fine pale yellow. A delicious nose, with a little weight to it. Excellent racy stuff, just the right reduction, this holds up well alongside the St-Aubin 1ers Crus, which is not the case everywhere. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Oct 2024.

      — Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, 94 points

A blend of three vineyards on the Puligny side of the appellation, the 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes has a slightly reductive bouquet that makes it difficult to read at the moment. The palate is well balanced with a tangy orange rind-tinged opening and lovely weight in the mouth, as lilting clementine and apricot notes mix with citrus peel toward the harmonious finish. This will be delicious. Drink: 2027-2040.

      — Neal Martin, Vinous

Aromas of pear, orange zest, beeswax and nutmeg introduce the 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered wine that's ample and fleshy, with a gourmand, textural profile that will offer a broad drinking window.

      Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Established as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in 2005 left his family Domaine, Marc Colin, where he gained a solid reputation for his outstanding white wines. Pierre-Yves took control of a share of the family vineyards (Domaine Marc Colin) from 2006 vintage. His first vintages have been made from vineyards and growers that he works closely with buying the wine as must and aging the wines in barrels which he has supplied. If the resulting wines meet his standards the barrels of wine purchased are then matured in his own cold cellar below his house in Chassagne Montrachet.

“This is not just one of the top domaines in the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is now well recognised as one of the greatest winemakers and domaines in the world. Consistently producing benchmark wines in each vintage.”

The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was born in 2001 from the association of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc). Today they operate 13 hectares in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Their production consists of 92% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% of Aligoté grape variety. Working about 2 hectares from the family heritage, the other plots have come from different acquisitions over the last fifteen years, as well as a few plots in Fermages.
