Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines 2023 is a strikingly mineral and high-toned Chardonnay that reflects the precision and tension of this elevated limestone-rich Premier Cru vineyard. Located high on the southern slopes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Les Baudines is known for producing wines of finesse, saline energy and linear structure rather than overt richness. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s meticulous vineyard practices and restrained élevage allow the terroir to remain fully expressive, preserving purity, freshness and mineral transparency throughout the wine. Widely regarded as one of Burgundy’s leading white wine producers, Pierre-Yves consistently crafts wines that combine concentration with remarkable detail and balance. The 2023 vintage delivered ripe fruit balanced by vivid natural acidity, resulting in wines of both generosity and crystalline precision.
In the glass, the wine reveals an intensely focused profile built around citrus, white orchard fruit and crushed stone minerality. The palate is taut and energetic, driven by bright acidity and subtle reduction that add complexity without overwhelming the vineyard character. Notes of yellow plum, lemon peel and white flowers unfold alongside hints of jasmine, wet limestone and delicate spice. There is remarkable delineation throughout the palate, with a saline mineral thread carrying the wine effortlessly toward its persistent finish. The texture remains refined and seamless despite the wine’s intensity and structural drive. Long, focused and highly age-worthy, this Premier Cru Chardonnay pairs beautifully with oysters, lobster, turbot or refined seafood dishes with beurre blanc sauces.

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 1er Cru, which comes from higher-altitude vines, has a discrete, complex bouquet that unfurls with yellow plum, jasmine and light pressed white flower scents. The palate has superb delineation, a touch of flintiness and perfect, subtle reduction. The intense, citrus-fresh finish leaves a spicy residue in the mouth. This is one of the strongest cuvées from PYCM this year. Drink: 2027-2045.
Mid yellow colour, a light reduction, steely and fine, less flesh on the palate then many, which is the style of the vineyard. A good crisp long finish. South facing spot. Picked 2nd September. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Oct 2024.
Smoky aromas of Granny Smith apple, just sliced lemon and wet stone are trimmed in discreet wood. The lilting but impressively intense middle weight flavors brim with minerality while displaying equally good delineation on the chiseled and impressively long finale. This needs to develop better depth but it's very promising and very Baudines in character. Drink: 2030+.
Established as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in 2005 left his family Domaine, Marc Colin, where he gained a solid reputation for his outstanding white wines. Pierre-Yves took control of a share of the family vineyards (Domaine Marc Colin) from 2006 vintage. His first vintages have been made from vineyards and growers that he works closely with buying the wine as must and aging the wines in barrels which he has supplied. If the resulting wines meet his standards the barrels of wine purchased are then matured in his own cold cellar below his house in Chassagne Montrachet.
“This is not just one of the top domaines in the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is now well recognised as one of the greatest winemakers and domaines in the world. Consistently producing benchmark wines in each vintage.”

The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was born in 2001 from the association of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc). Today they operate 13 hectares in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Their production consists of 92% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% of Aligoté grape variety. Working about 2 hectares from the family heritage, the other plots have come from different acquisitions over the last fifteen years, as well as a few plots in Fermages.
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s philosophy is simple yet profound: to create wines that speak to the unique character of their terroir. By embracing organic and biodynamic farming practices, he ensures that his vines are in harmony with nature, allowing each vineyard’s potential to shine through in the wines. In the winery, Pierre-Yves follows a minimal intervention approach, letting the natural yeast drive fermentation and allowing the wines to mature on their lees to develop depth and complexity. His wines are celebrated for their purity, elegance, and their ability to age gracefully, reflecting the precision of his craftsmanship and the distinctive beauty of Burgundy’s finest vineyards.
Aromas of yellow plum, lemon zest and white flowers layered with jasmine, crushed limestone and subtle smoky reduction.
Medium-bodied with bright acidity and chalky tension, showing citrus and orchard fruit balanced by saline minerality and restrained oak influence.
Persistent and focused with lingering citrus freshness, wet stone minerality and delicate spicy complexity.
