Parker Estate Kidman Block Shiraz 2021

John Parker established Hungerford Hill Wines in the Hunter Valley in 1968 and later identified the best locations on Coonawarra’s Terra Rossa strip to establish a vineyard and winery with Doug Balnaves. They planted their first vines on the 50 hectares property purchased from the Abbey family in 1985, which was sourced from the 19th Century-planted vines at Reynella. The inaugural 1988 of First Growth established Parker Estate’s reputation for producing wines of outstanding quality and longevity. Parker Estate has achieved numerous wine show medals, trophies, and accolades, including a Five Star rating by James Halliday, and in 2010, Parker's 'First Growth' entered the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine as 'Excellent'.

The grapes used for Parker Estate Kidman Block Shiraz 2021 are sourced exclusively from Tim Kidman's vineyard, specifically blocks 1 and 2. These blocks have been recognized as having exceptional quality, inspiring our winemaking team to create a wine that highlights their outstanding characteristics. These vines have been growing for over 50 years and are located in Terra Rossa over limestone soils. They are naturally low yielding, producing approximately 5 tons per hectare, and benefit from careful and minimal vinicultural practices.

The Parker Estate's 2021 Kidman Block Shiraz has a deep, magenta-purple colour and a rich aroma reminiscent of sweet blueberry pie with vanilla-scented pastry and syrupy fruit. It also has an earthy black liquorice scent and a floral hint of crystallized violets. The taste is smooth and rich, with a burst of inky black and blue fruit that tantalizes every taste bud. The wine has supple tannins and refreshing acidity, and the finish is rounded out with a cooling menthol note.
