Nocturne Single-Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Nocturne is producing highly awarded single-vineyard wines from exceptional sites in Margaret River. This is the region where Julian grew up and where he’s honed his winemaking skills. In the process he’s won just about every prize imaginable, having taken out Winemaker of the Year for the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion, the 2016 Jimmy Watson Memorial trophy, at Royal Melbourne in the space of just a couple of years.  

A bit of struck match and funk, white nectarine, lime, almond, brine and something like wet fern adding a slight green edge. It’s tight and crunchy, fine-boned and light, a subtle pineapple cream flavour in with the other more saline/savoury/nutty complex things. Distinct flinty and cool and clear feel, along with excellent length. Really good drinking now too. Frisky. - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 95 Points
