Nikka Yoichi 12 Years Old Peaty and Salty Cask Strength Single Malt Japanese Whisky 180ml
In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky.
Masataka Taketsuru chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido because of the similar environmental conditions to Scotland, where he learned whisky-making. Yoichi malts are described as bold and strong with refined peaty notes and smokiness brought by the traditional direct coal-fired distillation. Sea breeze from the Ishikari Bay delivers a briny hint to the whisky during maturation.
Nikka Yoichi 12 Years Old Peaty and Salty Cask Strength is a very special, rare, and sought after whisky from Nikka. This rare cask release has plenty of oak and peat with the traditional Yoichi characteristics enhanced to rival Islay whiskies.
