Nikka Whisky From The Barrel is a blended whisky created to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky “from barrels” which only blenders can sniff and taste. The iconic bottle is designed to reflect “a small block of whisky” – embodying the rich, strong taste of the whisky within. In order to deliver its richness and full flavors, the blended liquid goes into used barrels for another few months for marriage before it is bottled. This whisky is medium-body with good balance on the nose. There are hints of cut flowers and fresh fruits, spice and a little oak. The palate is punch and full bodied. It is full of toffee and winter spices, a little caramel and vanilla and a good mouthful of fruit. The finish is warming, long, and is fruity with a little oaken spice.
In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky. Given the chance to go to Scotland, Masataka became the first Japanese ever to master how to make whisky.
