Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 12 Year Old Blended Malt Japanese Whisky 700ml
Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 12 Year Old Blended Malt Japanese Whisky is a younger blend from the Nikka family. Taketsuru takes its name from Mastaka Takesuru who founded the company in 1934. Produced in the Miyagiko Distillery, this 12 Year Old is a soft and luxurious blend of malt whiskies. They have utilised the different natural environments at the distillery with use of steam heat distillation. The resulting malt is distinguished by a harmony of the aroma of aged casks with sweet hints of vanilla and gentle peat. An elegantly soft taste, deepened by a tangy, sweet fruitiness.
In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky. Given the chance to go to Scotland, Masataka became the first Japanese ever to master how to make whisky. He enrolled at the University of Glasgow, took chemistry courses and then apprenticed at three Scotch distilleries. The young and passionate man was fortunate to learn first-hand from craftsmen and have practical trainings to master blending. The two notebooks filled with every detail later became Japan’s very first guide in whisky production.
