Mount Mary Pinot Noir 2018
Pinot Noir was first planted at Mount Mary in 1971. The original block is 1.2 acres with more than 20 different Pinot clones planted on the site. The nose on this wine is dominantly primary fruit to begin but display more complexities with time in the glass. Strawberries, quince, blackcurrant and spice. The palate is medium-bodied but defined by the underlying length and intensity of the flavour. Running confidently through the wine is a fine grain of tannin.
Strawberries, roses, cinnamon toast and biscuits, a whisper of undergrowth. Medium-bodied, autumnal feel, a little rhubarb, coolness and ‘mineral’ feel, finesse to the acidity and supremely ‘elegant’ feel to the wine, fine graphite tannin, and a wonderfully long and fragrant strawberry and spice finish. Gee, this is a special wine. I’m smitten. - Gary Walsh, Wine Front, 96 Points
