Moss Wood Pinot Noir 2020
Clare & Keith Mugford, as winemakers, viticulturalists & proprietors, have been making wine & tending the vineyard at Moss Wood since 1984 & 1979, respectively. Their exacting viticulture ensures the production of grapes of excellent quality & they have created a stable of fine wines distinguished by their consistency over each vintage & their ability to age superbly. Being part of the Langton’s ‘Exceptional’ ranking since 1991 and other internationally respected wine awards, the couple has also proven that other Moss Wood wines, like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Semillons, showcase exceptional quality and longevity.
Given the ripe stature and power of the vintage, this will be a long-lived Pinot Noir. Sure, it has a lovely and approachable generosity now but over the next 20 years it will build into a really complex wine. For those who have the cellar space and the patience, it will definitely be worth the wait.
Pale in colour and disposition. Spicy, tangy, ripe red berry fruits and menthol. Impressive brightness and liveliness at two years of age. Lovely fine, mineral tannin profile. Compellingly elegant. Outstanding line and length. Unashamedly cool. Enticing. 14.0% - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Business Magazine, June 2022
