Montinore Estate was founded by former attorney John Forbis at the turn of the 20th century, when he saw parallels between his new home in Oregon’s Forest Grove and his native Montana. Originally a farm and cattle ranch, the estate transitioned into vineyards in 1982 after an agricultural survey confirmed its suitability for grape-growing. Under the leadership of Rudy Marchesi, who purchased the estate in 2003, Montinore Estate became a pioneer in Biodynamic® farming, receiving Demeter certification in 2008. Today, Montinore is a leader in sustainable agriculture and is recognized for producing some of the finest wines in Oregon, particularly in the Willamette Valley. The estate's commitment to Biodynamic® farming ensures that every bottle of wine reflects the unique character of its soil and the dedication of its winemaking team.
At Montinore Estate, winemaking is more than just a craft; it’s a dedication to the land and the natural rhythms that govern it. Guided by Biodynamic principles, Montinore Estate focuses on regenerative agriculture and sustainability, ensuring that the vineyard remains healthy and productive for generations to come. This philosophy is rooted in the belief that great wines come from great relationships—between the land, the vines, and the people who tend to them. With a commitment to balance, complexity, and quality, Montinore Estate creates wines that express the true character of the terroir. The estate’s focus on Biodynamic farming not only enhances the quality of the grapes but also strengthens the connection between nature and winemaking.
Aromatic cedar and dark chocolate greet the senses, with subtle tobacco leaf and spices adding depth. As the wine opens, vibrant raspberry, cola, and hints of baking spice evolve, creating a complex bouquet.
Savoury raspberry and cola flavours, layered with baking spice nuances. Well-integrated tannins and a well-structured body provide a balanced, elegant mouthfeel that hints at both maturity and potential.
Long and refined, with lingering tannins and vibrant fruit interplaying beautifully. The wine’s complexity shines through, leaving an impression of balance and grace that evolves as it rests on the palate.
