Mada Shiraz
The Mada Shiraz is a blend of Mada both sites with each vineyard providing its own unique characteristics to the wine. Neither site is organically certified but both are grown with conscious decisions to utilising various organic and sustainable approaches. Yass River - North facing site sitting in the northern valleys of Murrumbateman near the Yass River. Grown on granite with some shale. This site produces really perfumed, focused shiraz. Nanima Valley - Closer to the southern end of Murrumbateman, where a lot of warm air flows through the valley. Grown on granite with a clay base. Quite a dry site and with it comes shiraz with power and brawn. The grapes are hand Picked and fermented with 30% whole bunch. Mostly matured in barriques (15% new).
Mada Wines produces a collection of passionately made small-batch wines from the Canberra region. Winemaker Hamish Young, guided by a philosophy of ‘celebrating origin’ and drawing on his deep familiarity with the region, delivers generous wines which retain their delicacy and demonstrate an abiding respect for his craft.
