This is a single variety wine made from Castelao, the most widely planted red grape in the southern part of Portugal; think ripe Cabernet Franc or Tempranillo. As it thrives in different climatic conditions, Castelao produces a wide range of styles while generally retaining a food friendly acidity and freshness. The 2017 Luis Seabra Mono C is fermented 100% whole cluster, stomped by foot, and lovingly handcrafted. After 17 months of aging in older French oak, the wine is bottled and ready for release. Fruit-forward and textured, the wine shows flavors of bright cherries, raspberries, wet dirt, and cocoa.
