Laphroaig PX Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a remarkable expression of Islay's rugged terrain and the distillery's time-honoured craft. With a triple maturation process in ex-Bourbon barrels, quarter casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, this whisky delivers unparalleled complexity and depth. The traditional method of peating malted barley, followed by distillation with water from the Kilbride Stream, sets the foundation for its bold character. As it ages, the whisky gains smoothness and texture from the combination of different cask influences, resulting in a perfect balance of Laphroaig's signature peat smoke and the rich sweetness from the sherry casks.
The PX Cask showcases the hallmark flavours of raisin, sultana, and liquorice, complemented by the iconic Laphroaig peat smoke and seaweed notes. Whether sipped neat or with a splash of water to enhance the nutty marzipan aromas, this whisky delivers a complex and satisfying experience. Ideal for those who enjoy Laphroaig's bold, smoky style with an added layer of sweetness and richness, the PX Cask is a fine addition to any whisky lover's collection.

Remote and rugged is how you can describe Islay, on the western coast of Scotland, lies a distillery that has captured the hearts and palates of whisky enthusiasts around the world. Laphroaig, pronounced as "La-froyg," is a name that resonates with those who appreciate the distinct and powerful flavours that only a peated Islay whisky can deliver.
Laphroaig has a storied legacy that stretches back over two centuries, founded in 1815 by two farmers, Donald and Alexander Johnston, who saw the potential of Islay’s wild terrain for producing bold, peated whisky. Over the years, the distillery became synonymous with uncompromising quality and bold, smoky flavours, making it a beloved favourite among whisky enthusiasts worldwide. The name "Laphroaig" itself means "the broad hollow by the bay," a nod to the distillery’s unique location on Islay’s southern coast, where the harsh weather and briny sea air impart a distinctive character to the whisky.
For nearly 140 years, Laphroaig remained a family-run operation, dedicated to traditional methods and a hands-on approach to distilling. Today, that same spirit of dedication and craftsmanship lives on in every bottle. Known for pushing the boundaries of flavour while remaining true to its roots, Laphroaig’s whiskies are bold, unapologetic, and full of character—just like the islanders who craft them.
The Laphroaig distillery, situated on the rugged coast of Islay, is as much a part of the whisky’s character as the ingredients themselves. It’s here, amid the wild weather and dramatic landscape, that Laphroaig has perfected its iconic smoky, peaty style. Using malted barley from its own floor malting and peat from the island’s bogs, Laphroaig maintains a deep connection to Islay’s natural elements. The whisky is distilled using traditional copper pot stills, and aged in ex-bourbon casks, which impart layers of sweet vanilla, oak, and fruit that balance the powerful smoke.
Laphroaig’s philosophy is deeply rooted in craftsmanship and authenticity. Unlike many distilleries, Laphroaig bottles its whisky non-chill filtered and at cask strength, ensuring that each expression retains its full depth of flavour. Every drop is a reflection of the distillery’s commitment to preserving the essence of Islay’s rich heritage while continuing to innovate and explore new ways to push the boundaries of flavour.
The nose greets you with a rich sweetness of sultanas, raisins, and liquorice, underscored by Laphroaig's signature smoky aromas.
On the palate, the intense peat smoke is balanced by layers of oak and a sweet, full-bodied sherry flavour that envelops the taste buds.
The finish is long and dry, with the strong influence of peat smoke and thick, sherried oak leaving a lasting impression.

Maker:
Remote and rugged is how you can describe Islay, on the western coast of Scotland, lies a distillery that has captured the hearts and palates of whisky enthusiasts around the world. Laphroaig, pronounced as "La-froyg," is a name that resonates with those who appreciate the distinct and powerful flavours that only a peated Islay whisky can deliver.
Established in 1815 by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston, Laphroaig's rich history is intertwined with the rugged beauty of its island home. The distillery stands proudly on the southern coast of Islay, overlooking the dramatic Atlantic Ocean, which plays a significant role in shaping the character of its whiskies. What sets Laphroaig apart from other whiskies is its unmistakably smoky and peaty profile. The distillery sources its malted barley from the nearby Port Ellen maltings, where it is dried over a peat fire, infusing the grain with the distinct flavours of the island. The resulting whisky is a true reflection of its terroir, with an intense and complex flavour profile that is often described as a balance between smoke, maritime brininess, and a hint of sweetness.
Distillery:
Laphroaig is blessed with its proximity to the Kilbride Stream, they've got a plentiful supply of peaty, mineral-rich water. The water is used as a coolant throughout the whisky-making process and in fact is one of Laphroaig’s main ingredients, lending soft, peaty, flavoursome notes to our whisky. As for the soil, well, their peat bogs are unlike anything found on mainland Scotland. Unlike other scotch producing sites, there are no forests on Islay, so the plants that fuel the peat are primarily heather, lichen, and moss. These give Laphroaig its herbal, qualities that are distinctive to the island, and the whisky. Also in the mix is old sea vegetation from when Islay was under water. The influence of this on the peat gives Laphroaig its maritime character and is one of the biggest points of difference from mainland peat.
