Intense maritime character and complete farm-to-bottle authenticity define this distinctive Islay single malt from the acclaimed Kilchoman Distillery. The Kilchoman 100% Islay 13th Edition is produced entirely from barley grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled on the distillery’s own farm on Islay, making it one of the most uniquely self-contained whiskies in Scotland. Crafted from publican barley varieties grown in the rich soils surrounding Rockside Farm, the whisky reflects both place and process with remarkable clarity. Matured predominantly in bourbon barrels with additional oloroso sherry cask influence, the whisky balances Kilchoman’s signature peat smoke with vibrant fruit and cereal richness.

In the glass, the 13th Edition reveals a more elegant and cereal-driven style than many heavily peated Islay malts, showing layers of lemon zest, vanilla cream, toasted barley and gentle maritime smoke. The peat influence remains refined and integrated, supporting rather than dominating the whisky’s naturally sweet malt core. Kilchoman’s traditional floor malting and relatively long fermentation contribute texture and complexity, while careful cask management preserves freshness and precision. Hints of orchard fruit, honey and sea spray emerge alongside warming spice and earthy smoke, creating a whisky of both depth and balance. The combination of bourbon and sherry maturation adds subtle richness without obscuring the distillery’s unmistakable farm-grown identity. The finish is long, smoky and softly saline, carrying lingering citrus oils and toasted grain. This release is a compelling expression of terroir-driven Islay whisky and a benchmark for modern farm distilling in Scotland.

“The initial sip is juicy, with honey, chocolate, malt, cherry, and smoke, adding Cadbury fruit and nut bars, butterscotch, creamed banana, and barbecued meats, with a finish of hot smoke, sooty embers, and dark chocolate.”

      — Jonny McCormick, Whisky Advocate

“The 13th Edition is the first release since 2019 where I have opted for solely bourbon barrels. The 44 bourbon barrels that I selected are predominantly fresh casks, this gives the whisky lovely layers of buttery vanilla and caramel flavours which pair beautifully with the citrus sweetness of our spirit.”

      — Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder

      Kilchoman

Kilchoman Distillery, founded by Anthony and Kathy Wills in 2005, is a true testament to the rich farm distilling heritage of Islay. Located on the picturesque island, Kilchoman is a family-run business that has revived the lost tradition of farm distilling, bringing whisky production back to Islay's fertile grounds after a long hiatus. Today, Kilchoman is one of the few distilleries on the island to control every aspect of the whisky-making process, from barley cultivation to bottling, ensuring exceptional quality and unique character in every drop.

Guided by a passion for whisky and a dedication to preserving Islay’s rich traditions, the Wills family, along with a talented team, continues to craft single malts that reflect the terroir of Islay. With their hands-on approach, every bottle of Kilchoman whisky embodies the craftsmanship and commitment that defines this remarkable distillery. From malting and distilling to maturation and cask selection, Kilchoman’s distinct approach results in a product that is authentic, innovative, and deeply tied to the land of Islay.
