The Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett 2024 is an off-dry, single-vineyard Riesling from the Graacher Himmelreich site in Germany’s Mosel region. Produced by one of the Middle Mosel’s benchmark estates, it combines the delicacy of the Kabinett category with the distinctive mineral profile associated with this renowned vineyard. Graacher Himmelreich lies immediately south of Wehlener Sonnenuhr and benefits from a south-western exposure, relatively deep soils and strong water-retention capacity. These conditions help the site produce wines noted for fine acidity, pronounced minerality and an elegant interplay of fruit, floral and spice characters.
The 2024 bottling opens with light peach and apricot, joined by fresh apple, white currant and cool slate-like nuances. On the palate, it is light-bodied and finely drawn, with natural grape sweetness balanced by bright, mouth-watering acidity. Stone fruit and citrus-toned freshness are carried by a precise mineral structure, giving the wine clarity without sacrificing its gentle, ripe character. At 8.5% alcohol, it remains graceful and refreshingly light, with all the filigreed elegance expected of a classic Mosel Kabinett. The finish is crisp, persistent and subtly mineral, suggesting that the wine will gain further nuance with careful bottle age. It is an excellent match for lightly spiced Asian cuisine, shellfish, poultry, fresh cheeses and delicate pork dishes.
