Product Description:
Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2008 is a monumental Clare Valley Shiraz sourced from the celebrated Armagh vineyard, one of Australia’s most revered single-vineyard sites. Planted in 1968 by Jim Barry on the north-western slopes near Clare township, the vineyard consistently yields fruit of extraordinary concentration and longevity. The 2008 vintage was shaped by hot and dry growing conditions, producing a wine of immense density, structure and intensity. Crafted in the bold and uncompromising style that defines The Armagh, the wine was matured in a combination of French and American oak to support its powerful fruit profile while preserving regional identity.
Rich, layered and deeply expressive, the 2008 release delivers a dramatic interplay of dark fruit, spice, savoury complexity and firm tannin structure. Aromas of blackberry, plum, licorice, dark chocolate and roasted meats emerge alongside graphite, earth and cedar nuances. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, carrying waves of ripe black fruits framed by muscular tannins and impressive freshness. Despite its scale and power, the wine remains composed and remarkably detailed, reflecting the pedigree of the vineyard and the precision of the winemaking. The finish is exceptionally persistent, layered with savoury spice, mineral notes and lingering dark chocolate complexity. Built for extended cellaring, the wine continues to evolve with remarkable grace and structure. It stands as one of the defining Australian Shiraz wines of its era and a benchmark expression of Clare Valley terroir.

Reviews & Accolades
"Deep crimson-purple; the bouquet is seductively complex, multi-fruit, spice and oak aromas playing tag with each other; the full-bodied palate continues the game, with lush black fruits and fine, savoury tannins in perfect balance, oak and alcohol seamlessly woven into the core of wine. The cork is good and well-inserted, but will prejudice the wine post 2030." – James Halliday, Wine Companion, 96 points
