Jasper Hill's Georgia's Paddock vineyard spans twelve hectares and is located in the heart of Victoria's Heathcote wine region in Australia. The Shiraz vines at Georgia's Paddock vineyard were planted in 1975/76 and cover twelve hectares of the estate. These vines yield approximately three tonnes per hectare, resulting in a total production of around 20 hL per hectare. The grapes harvested from these vines are of exceptional quality, showcasing the rich flavors and intense aromas that are characteristic of Shiraz from this region. In addition to the Shiraz, the vineyard also boasts three hectares of Riesling. The vineyard has seen its fair share of challenges over the years. In 1987, a devastating bushfire ravaged the vineyard, causing significant damage. However, the resilient winemakers at Jasper Hill didn't let this setback deter them. They replanted the vineyard, adding further small plantings to ensure the continuity and quality of their wines. Beyond Shiraz and Riesling, the vineyard also boasts one hectare each of Semillon, Nebbiolo and Viognier. These varietals were planted at different times, adding further diversity and complexity to the vineyard's offerings. The Semillon vines were planted in 1992, the Nebbiolo vines in 1993 and the Viognier vines in 2001. These low-yielding varietals contribute to the overall richness and depth of the wines produced at Georgia's Paddock.
