Barossa Shiraz with brightness and bite—no thunder needed.
Izway’s 2015 Don Shiraz is a fresh, finely structured take on a Barossa classic. Sourced from carefully selected parcels and shaped by a growing season that included a dramatic January rain, this vintage delivers purity, lift, and surprising finesse. While the Barossa often leans into power, this wine steers toward restraint and aromatic complexity without losing its regional heartbeat.
Expect a wine that’s clean and expressive from the outset—bright red fruits, subtle spice, and a textural play that nods almost playfully to Viognier (though none is present). At 15.4% ABV, it wears its weight with ease thanks to natural acidity and an elegant tannin frame. Basket-pressed, naturally fermented, and made with minimal intervention at Izway’s off-grid Seppeltsfield winery, the 2015 Don is Barossa authenticity bottled.
Best enjoyed with chargrilled lamb, wood-fired eggplant, or a slow-braised beef ragu. Drink now or cellar for 6–10 years.

Izway Wines is a family-owned winery that has evolved from humble beginnings into a respected producer in the Barossa Valley. Founded by Chris and Brian Conway after a chance encounter in France in 2002, Izway began with a single barrel of Shiraz sourced from the renowned Ebenezer sub-region. Over the years, the winery has grown steadily and organically, focusing on creating wines that authentically express the character of their environment. In 2015, Izway Wines built a state-of-the-art, off-grid winery in Seppeltsfield, designed with sustainability in mind. Today, alongside Chris's wife Kathryn, who is also the General Manager, Izway continues to craft wines with a deep respect for traditional winemaking methods, such as basket pressing and natural fermentation, ensuring each wine is expressive, distinctive, and true to its Barossa Valley roots.
Izway Wines is committed to producing wines that genuinely reflect the land and growing conditions of each season. With a focus on authenticity and simplicity, the winery follows a minimal-intervention approach to winemaking, allowing the terroir to speak for itself. Located in the sun-soaked Barossa Valley, Izway benefits from access to old vines that thrive in the region’s warm climate. The winery’s philosophy centres on sustainability, with its modern off-grid facility designed to operate in harmony with the environment. Rather than relying on traditional marketing methods such as wine shows or media promotions, Izway prefers to build its brand through personal connections and a shared passion for great wine. Each bottle of Izway wine represents the legacy of a small, family-owned winery dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality and character, making it a true expression of the Barossa Valley.
Strawberry, raspberry, cassis and cream—lightning before the thunder.
Hints of apricot and ripe red fruit with a soft, sweet tannin structure and deceptive richness.
Long and bright with a savoury taper, carried by acidity rather than sheer power.
