Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2019
To Giaconda, wine marking should always seek balance and be subtle. Their wines are hand-crafted according to a natural wine making process. To them, that means using indigenous yeast for fermentation, ageing in French oak barrels, minimal sulphur additions, and no filtration before bottling.
Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2019 comes from a beautiful and unique vineyard further illustrating Beechworth's positions as one of Australia's best wine regions. This wine has a strong red to purplish hue. Aromas of dark raspberry, chocolate, briar, paprika with a sweet overlay of star anise and cinnamon. The palate mirrors the bouquet - sophisticated and suave, rolling and round, vibrant and spicy. A wine of great depth yet full of subtle notes that shine long on the palate.
Giaconda vineyard was established by Rick Kinzbrunner, a mechanical engineer who became interested in wine in the early 1970's. Rick then spent the next ten years working in the industry, travelling and following his passion for wine. After a brief stint in New Zealand, he studied at Davis University in California and worked at some of the most respected wineries in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys (namely Stag's Leap, Simi and Matanzas Creek). In Europe he worked for the Moueix group in Bordeaux, co-owner of the fabled Chateau Petrus.
