Fletcher Barolo Alta Pete
Fletcher Barolo 'Alta Pete'
From the Producer
45% Barolo from La Morra area, 45% from Serralunga area and 10% Castiglione Falletto. This blend is a matching of elegance and power. Elegance derived from La Morra with the vines rooted in the famous Tortonian, calcareous marl and a South-Easterly aspect, and the power from that of the older, iron rich Helvetian soils of Serralunga with a South-Westerly aspect. The vines are an average age of 40 years and are massal selected. Aged for three and a half years in 300L barriques.
This is in good stead. It?s heady with rustic, savoury scents, tar, char, truffles, leather and old pot pourri, but so good in that way. Has this shimmering spread of flavour in the palate. It?s light, but the sheet of lacy tannin does a fine job of giving structure and tension to the wine. Fine acidity sits under a veil of dark fruit, spice and leather, the wine drawing out long, feathery then mouthwatering, but wait for that spread of grippy tannin? finishes with sour-sweet twist of amaro. It?s a great drinking experience. 93+ Points, Wine Front
