Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc 2023

Having a presence in Sancerre for generations, Domaine Vacheron was most recently run by brothers Denis and Jean-Louis Vacheron but have now handed the reins to the next generation, cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron. Previously the two have travelled separately to gain experience else where, as do most up-and-coming vignerons at family-run Domaines. Jean-Laurent in Burgundy with Aubert de Villaine and  Jean-Dominique in Châteauneuf du Pape. It is the two cousins who have been the driving force behind converting the estate to biodynamics.

The vineyards for Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Blanc are planted in calcareous, flint soils. The harvest is performed manually into 20kg boxes. The bunches are pressed on arriving at the winery and the must is decanted cold to leave it clean. It then ferments in stainless tanks at a temperature lower than 20 ºC, in order to extract and preserve the fruity aromas of the grape. Lastly, the wine is aged on lees, filtered and bottled. Pleasant fruity and floral aromas. It has mineral touches, a good tension and an enveloping volume.
