Chalk-lined precision from 90-year-old vines. The 2023 Domaine Samuel Billaud Chablis Les Séchets 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes is a sharply focused, mineral-rich expression from a historic left-bank parcel regarded as an extension of Vaillons. Rooted in Kimmeridgian limestone and drawn from low-yielding vines planted nearly a century ago, it captures the essence of its terroir with purity and restraint.

Fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel, the wine offers a tensile frame of citrus and white stone fruit layered with iodine, crushed chalk, and lifted floral notes. Intense yet finely detailed, it finishes with striking sapidity and sustained length. A wine for purists and collectors alike, ideally served with oysters, scallops, or grilled white fish.

      Trusted by the professionals

“Crushed stone, sea cave and just a touch of menthol on the intense nose, this is beautifully defined… the palate is well balanced with just a touch of dried apricot and fig, animated and tensile. The penetrating finish lingers in the mouth. Superb.”

      — Neal Martin, Vinous, 93–94 points

“Restrained aromas of citrus confit, iodine, spice and apple give way to strikingly textured and slightly denser medium-bodied flavours that flash evident power… bitter lemon-inflected finish that is markedly dry, sleek and balanced.”

      — Allen Meadows, Burghound, 91–94 points

      Tasting notes

      NOSE
      Mineral and refined

Lemon zest, oyster shell and crushed chalk dominate, with hints of white
flowers and a delicate iodised edge.

      PALATE
      Crisp, saline and tensile

Bright citrus and orchard fruit ride over flinty minerality and fine texture,
supported by vivid acidity and a linear, focused frame.

      FINISH
      Clean, persistent and chalky

A lingering close of lemon peel and sea spray, carried by a dry, chalky finish
      that underscores its precision.
