Refined, pure and quietly expressive, Domaine Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Etienne 2023 captures the essence of fine Côte d’Or Pinot Noir through the lens of a meticulous Vosne-Romanée producer. The wine is sourced from carefully selected Bourgogne parcels located near Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, benefiting from limestone-rich soils that lend freshness and definition. The 2023 vintage delivers clarity of fruit and balanced ripeness, allowing the wine to show immediacy without sacrificing structure. In the glass, it reveals a bright, translucent ruby colour that signals finesse rather than weight. Aromatically, the wine leans toward red fruit purity, with raspberry and cherry framed by gentle spice and subtle earth. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied, driven by fresh acidity and fine, well-managed tannins. The texture is supple yet focused, offering lift and tension rather than power. Careful élevage ensures oak remains discreet, supporting the fruit rather than dominating it. This cuvée is approachable in its youth but possesses enough balance and structure to reward short-term cellaring, making it a classic and polished introduction to the Méo-Camuzet style.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet is guided today by Jean-Nicolas Méo, the third generation of his family to shape the estate’s destiny. Although the Méo family had owned vineyards for years, it was Jean-Nicolas who truly transformed the domaine by taking over its operations in the late 1980s, after completing studies in oenology and economics and returning to Vosne-Romanée to immerse himself in winemaking. Before his arrival, most of the vineyards were farmed and the grapes sold to négociants, but Jean-Nicolas shifted the focus toward estate-bottled wines, elevating both the identity and quality of Méo-Camuzet’s output. Early in his career, he was mentored by the legendary Burgundian winemaker Henri Jayer, whose deep understanding of terroir and precise techniques left a lasting imprint on Jean-Nicolas’s approach. Under his leadership, the domaine grew to encompass some of Burgundy’s most prestigious vineyards in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Corton, and Clos de Vougeot, producing wines that are both powerful and elegant. Jean-Nicolas’s talent, passion, and commitment have earned Méo-Camuzet a reputation as one of Burgundy’s most respected producers, with critics and collectors around the world seeking out its wines. Today he continues to balance tradition with thoughtful innovation, maintaining close attention to detail in both the vineyards and the cellar while guiding the estate into the future.
