      Product Description:
Fresh red fruit, fine tannins and understated Burgundian character define the Domaine Lucien Muzard Bourgogne Rouge 2024. Produced entirely from Pinot Noir, this regional red Burgundy offers an approachable introduction to the elegant house style of this historic Santenay estate. Domaine Lucien Muzard & Fils traces its winegrowing history to 1645 and is managed by members of the Muzard family’s ninth generation. The fruit for this cuvée comes from parcels in Maranges and Santenay, together with an additional one-hectare parcel in the Hautes-Côtes. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable practices informed by organic and biodynamic principles. The grapes are harvested by hand in small cases, carefully sorted and predominantly destemmed to protect the quality and purity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, while gentle extraction helps preserve Pinot Noir’s fragrance, freshness and delicate texture. The wine is raised in a combination of tank and barrel, providing subtle structure without overwhelming its bright regional character.

The 2024 vintage presents a lighter crimson colour with delicate strawberry, cherry and raspberry notes. Its aromatic profile is initially restrained but gains fragrance and detail with air. On the palate, perfumed red fruit is framed by very fine-grained tannins and lively acidity. A subtle mineral impression brings definition and complements the wine’s supple, fluid texture. The finish shows youthful firmness, though the structure is expected to soften as the wine settles in bottle. Balanced, refreshing and highly versatile, it can accompany roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, savoury tarts and mild cheeses.

      Reviews & Accolades
“In bottle, having been made in normal barrels, not new. A lighter crimson. Not a lot showing on the nose, perhaps a light strawberry note.” — Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, 86 Points

“Vines close by and also from the Hautes Côtes near Paris-l’Hôpital. Depth and a good perfume – a little dissociated but still a good invitation.” — Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
