Product Description:
Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Clavoillons 2024 is a distinguished Chardonnay from a well-positioned Premier Cru vineyard in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. It is produced by Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy, a historic family estate whose origins date to 1820 and span more than six generations. The domaine manages approximately seven hectares of vineyards and follows a precise approach designed to preserve the individual expression of each terroir. Les Clavoillons is situated immediately below the celebrated Premier Cru Les Folatières, giving the wine a distinctive position within the appellation. The domaine’s vines in this parcel have an average age of approximately 71 years, making it one of the estate’s most mature vineyard holdings. These old vines provide the foundation for a wine of natural concentration, aromatic depth and generous texture.
The wine is matured for eleven months in oak barrels before spending a further seven months in stainless-steel tanks. Approximately 25–30% new barrels are employed, bringing measured structure and richness while limiting excessive oak influence. The domaine characterises Les Clavoillons through its fullness, impressive length and aromas of ripe and candied fruit. Its generous profile distinguishes it from the more finely drawn character often associated with vineyards located higher on the Puligny slope. Despite this breadth, the extended stainless-steel maturation helps the wine retain clarity and composure before bottling. The producer indicates an ageing potential of approximately eight to nine years. It may be enjoyed as an aperitif or served with fish, shellfish, poultry and other white-meat dishes.
