Product Description:
Domaine Didier Dagueneau Sancerre Blanc Le Mont Damné 2023 is a rare and highly regarded Sauvignon Blanc from one of the Loire Valley’s most iconic domaines. Produced by Domaine Didier Dagueneau, this wine comes from the celebrated Monts Damnés slope in Sancerre, one of the region’s most famous and demanding terroirs. The name “Mont Damné” is closely associated with steep, chalk-rich vineyards that produce Sauvignon Blancs of exceptional tension, depth and mineral drive. This 2023 release is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc and reflects the domaine’s precise, uncompromising approach to vineyard work and cellar ageing. Although Dagueneau is most closely linked to Pouilly-Fumé, Le Mont Damné shows the domaine’s equally serious interpretation of Sancerre. The wine is produced from organically worked vineyards, in keeping with the estate’s deep commitment to farming quality and site expression.
The 2023 vintage presents a focused and finely structured style, combining citrus-led freshness with chalky minerality and impressive length. Aromatically, it shows lemon zest, grapefruit, white flowers, green apple, fresh herbs and subtle smoky mineral notes. The palate is tense and chiselled, with bright acidity, citrus purity, white stone fruit and a firm chalk-driven backbone. Its texture is refined rather than heavy, allowing the vineyard’s minerality to remain at the centre of the wine. The finish is long, precise and mouth-watering, with lingering citrus, saline notes and stony freshness. This is a serious, age-worthy Sauvignon Blanc that should develop additional complexity with careful cellaring. It is especially well suited to goat’s cheese, oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, lemon-roasted chicken and refined vegetable dishes.
