Only 72 bottles available. Situated on the mid slope of the hill of Corton with a perfect south-easterly exposition, Les Grèves is one of Corton's finest red terroirs. The soils are reddish clays peppered with a type of Jurassic limestone known here as Ladoix limestone, as well as some flint. Domaine des Croix purchased a 0.55 hectare parcel of 1960 vines in 2009, and have farmed the vines organically since then. Domaine des Croix Corton Les Greves Grand Cru 2016 is vinified with 30% whole bunches and aged in older oak, this is a stunning, layered and deep Corton. The notes below capture the wine well. It's smart buying for those who want great Grand Cru for reasonable money.
"The 2016 Corton Grand Cru Greves has a very perfumed bouquet with Morello cherries, raspberry preserve and cold stone, very detailed and focused. The palate is very detailed and precise, with very fine tannin and mineral-drenched red berry fruit that is both elegant and intense. Just three-and-a-half barrels of this beauty. Beg, borrow or steal for a bottle (or alternatively try and buy one)." 93-95 points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
