From one of the most revered producers in Chablis, the Domaine Christian Moreau Père Et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2021 is a testament to the exceptional quality of the estate’s vineyard holdings. Sourced from a 2.9ha plot that spans the length of the slope, this Les Clos is truly the most representative expression of the vineyard. With vines aged between 45-75 years, the wine boasts an exceptional richness and concentration, balanced by a salinity and precision that elevates its finish. Aged in a combination of barrel (about 10% new) and stainless steel, the result is a wine with incredible complexity, clarity, and vibrancy that will reward those with the patience to let it age.

The 2021 vintage offers remarkable purity and typicity, with its hallmark notes of iodine, oyster shell, and ocean breeze—classic markers of Chablis. The wine presents an impressive, fine-boned structure, with a sleek, intense palate and a bracing salinity that is perfectly balanced by its natural acidity. The 2021 vintage of Les Clos is a wine for lovers of old-school Chablis, a style that speaks of its terroir with striking clarity and energy. With aging potential from 2027 to 2034, this wine promises to evolve beautifully, developing complexity and further expression as it matures.

A healthy yield of 45 hl/ha. A paler colour and a more classic bouquet, all in white fruit, which swells across the palate, delivers class and charm, the acidity is really well integrated. Excellent persistence, this is a fine-boned rendition rather than muscular, and you barely see the wood. Drink from 2027-2034.

The 2021 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru was taken from tank rather than barrel. This was primal on the nose and difficult to read. The palate is more expressive: finely tuned with a fine bead of acidity, tensile and saline, it does not possess the complexity of Raveneau’s Les Clos tasted an hour or two before, but it has great penetration and a compelling flinty finish. Excellent.

    — Neal Martin, Vinous - 93-95 Points

From a huge 2.9 ha parcel Here too the nose is presently dominated by reduction and wood toast. More interesting are the sleek, intense and ultra-fresh middleweight plus flavors that possess excellent size, richness and power where the latter suffuses the sappy, muscular and saliva-inducing, moderately dry and compact finale. This very promising effort is going to need at least a decade to realize its full potential. Impressive.

    Domaine Christian Moreau

Domaine Christian Moreau is a historic name in Chablis, with the current generation led by Christian Moreau and his son Fabien Moreau, who carry on the family’s legacy. With nearly 8 hectares of Grand Cru holdings out of Chablis’ total 92 hectares, this small but exceptional estate has become one of the leading producers of Chablis, consistently crafting remarkable wines. Although their holdings in Petit, Village, and Premier Cru Chablis are relatively small, the estate’s true highlights lie in its Grand Cru vineyards. They own approximately 3 hectares in Les Clos, 0.41 hectares in Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos, as well as smaller holdings in Valmur, Blanchots, and Vaudésir. Domaine Christian Moreau continues to produce must-try wines from the classic climats of Chablis.
