Purity, restraint and mineral precision define the distinctive character of Dog Point Chardonnay 2023 from the Marlborough region. Sourced from estate vineyards planted on clay-rich soils, the fruit benefits from low yields and meticulous vineyard management that prioritises balance and natural expression.

The cool coastal climate of Marlborough contributes to slow, even ripening, allowing flavour development while retaining vibrant acidity. In the glass, the wine presents a poised and quietly powerful profile, where citrus and stone fruit are layered with subtle savoury complexity. Wild fermentation and careful élevage in French oak barrels add texture and depth without masking the clarity of fruit. The oak influence is finely judged, offering gentle spice and structure rather than overt richness. This vintage shows a harmonious interplay between freshness and weight, with a mineral backbone that drives length and focus.

Dog Point Chardonnay 2023 is a refined, age-worthy expression that speaks clearly of site, craftsmanship and restraint, rewarding both immediate enjoyment and short- to medium-term cellaring.

      Dog Point

Dog Point Vineyard is one of Marlborough’s oldest and most respected privately owned wineries, founded by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland in the late 1970s. As pioneers in the region, they helped shape the evolution of the Marlborough wine industry, with the Dog Point label officially launching in 2004. Today, the vineyard remains family-owned, with the next generation continuing the tradition of producing wines with uncompromising quality and attention to detail.

The vineyard is New Zealand’s largest certified organic vineyard, producing wines that reflect the pristine environment of Marlborough. Dog Point’s wines are made with minimal intervention, using wild yeasts and a philosophy focused on authenticity, balance, and the natural expression of the land. This commitment to organic viticulture and low intervention winemaking allows their wines to shine with purity and complexity, making each bottle a true representation of the Dog Point estate.
