Elegant texture and saline precision define this benchmark white Rhône blend from one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s most revered estates. The 2024 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is crafted by Vincent Avril from six traditional white grape varieties planted across the domaine’s diverse parcels throughout the appellation. Produced in limited quantities, the wine reflects the estate’s longstanding philosophy of balance, freshness and terroir transparency rather than overt richness. Fermentation and ageing take place primarily in stainless steel, preserving purity of fruit and the natural tension of the vintage. The 2024 release captures a refined and energetic expression of southern Rhône white wine, shaped by lifted aromatics, mineral detail and remarkable structural finesse.

In the glass the wine shows both generosity and restraint, revealing layers of ripe citrus, pear, white peach and subtle floral tones woven with fennel, almond and delicate herbal complexity. The palate is medium-bodied yet concentrated, combining fleshy orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and a persistent saline edge. Fine phenolic grip and chalky mineral notes bring precision and length, while the seamless texture gives the wine impressive ageing potential. Clos des Papes has long been regarded as one of the reference-point producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, and the 2024 vintage continues that tradition with clarity and poise. It is a sophisticated white Rhône suited to grilled seafood, roasted poultry, creamy Provençal dishes or extended cellaring.

“Crafted from six different grape varieties in equal proportions, the 2024 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is exquisite, wafting from the glass with aromas of flowers, herbs, almonds, pear and peach. Medium- to full-bodied, round and sappy, it’s fleshy with a lively core of fruit, terrific mid-palate plenitude and a long, ethereal, somewhat chalky finish lifted by a beautiful bitterness and a saline aftertaste. Drink: 2025-2045.”

      — Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 96 points, October 2025

“A richer style of white from Vincent, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc offers honeyed melon, ripe citrus, flowers, and mint on the nose. It's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This beauty will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. Drink 2029-2045.”

      — Jeb Dunnuck, 95 points, November 2025

“A textural, flavorful and herb-tinged white with notes of dried lemons, white peaches, anise, warm herbs and quince. Medium-bodied with a well-rounded, polished and flavorful development on the palate. Lovely lemon character to the long, mouthwatering and textural finish, with a touch of anise and almond paste. Drink or hold.”

      — James Suckling, 94 points, April 2025

      Clos Des Papes

Clos des Papes is one of the most renowned estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a history of producing remarkable wines under the guidance of Paul-VincentAvril. The estate has been bottling its own wine since 1896 and is celebrated for its authentic, long-lived expressions of the appellation. Covering approximately 80 acres, Clos des Papes includes 24 plots, each boasting some of the finest terroir in Châteauneuf. The geographical diversity of the vineyards allows for optimal ripeness at harvest and the flexibility to combine different grape varieties, producing both red and white wines designed for aging. Yields are kept low at 28 hl/hectare, and the grapes undergo strict sorting to ensure the highest quality.
