Roman Bratasiuk's founding of Clarendon Hills winery in 1990 marked a turning point for the Australian wine industry. Despite a background in biochemistry, Bratasiuk's passion for wine led him to become a self-taught winemaker. His foresight led him to introduce the concept of single-vineyard wines to Australia in 1990, a practice now widely adopted. Furthermore, Bratasiuk championed the Grenache grape variety in Australia, pioneering the country's first single-vineyard, 100% Grenache. His keen eye for quality also led to the discovery of the acclaimed Astralis Syrah vineyard in Blewitt Springs in 1990. Bratasiuk's unwavering dedication to his craft and his commitment to continuous improvement over the past three decades have propelled Clarendon Hills to achieve a world-class reputation. His relentless efforts in highlighting the potential of old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Blewitt Springs and Clarendon have significantly benefited the Australian wine scene.

The Clarendon location overlooks all of Blewitt Springs and the greater McLaren Vale and St Vincent Gulf vista. The Brookman vineyard consistently produces very attractive wine with no rough edges, just perfume, style and elegance with a balance that will stand the test of time for medium to long term cellaring.
