Lutruwita is Chatto’s Tasmanian blend, a celebration of the island’s diversity of vineyards and clones. The 2024 release draws fruit from Huon, Derwent, Coal River, Pipers River, Tamar and the East Coast, bringing together five Pinot Noir clones in a layered expression of the state.

Handpicked and gently vinified with a touch of whole bunch and a measured oak influence, this cuvée is finely tuned yet approachable. The result is a Pinot Noir that captures both brightness and savoury depth, with spice and structure lending definition to its vivid fruit.

      Trusted by the professionals

Medium depth purple colour, bright and youthful. A little smoky reduction at first sniff along with rich, ripe dark-cherry aromas, the palate following on with rich, sweetly ripe cherry flavours laced with spices and some meaty/toasty nuances. Lovely wine, just finishes slightly grippy with a hint of bitterness, which food would take care of. Plenty to like here, and it has a future.

      Chatto Wines

Jim Chatto is one of Australia’s most respected winemakers, a craftsman with over 25 years of experience and an unwavering devotion to Pinot Noir. A former Chief Winemaker for both McWilliam’s and Kreglinger/Pipers Brook, and a former Chair of Judges for the National Wine Show of Australia, Jim brings precision and purpose to every vintage.

His story began in Tasmania in the late 1990s, where he fell in love with the region’s cool-climate Pinot and the land that would later become home. Alongside his wife Daisy, Jim established Chatto Wines in pursuit of Pinot at its most expressive, wines that speak clearly of place, balance, and time. From their small vineyard in the Huon Valley, Jim crafts limited releases that have earned critical acclaim and a loyal following of collectors who understand his quiet pursuit of excellence.
